Air Jordans

A while ago, a buddy of mine challenged me to try and make a pair of miniature 1985 Air Jordan 1 sneakers. I’d never made any kind of athletic shoe before, so I took my time, figuring out each step, building them over the summer, from a pair of Ken high tops, faux leather, thread, and paint. While they don’t have every component of the originals, I aimed to capture the classic design concept as best I could. They finally got their laces, last week, and now Gus gets to model them!! A big thank you for this idea and inspiration, that lead to me learning something new!

Bespoke Madras Shorts

 Last week I just completed another bespoke project! These Enterbay Action Figure madras shorts, imagined and requested by @carliekarl, are made with a one-of-a-kind custom textile. I started with a madras plaid cotton, hand embroidered more stripes onto it, to scale down the design, and then steeped the whole garment in Earl Grey tea, for a unique finish! 

Heat Wave

Some days, it’s so hot, the only thing you can do with any reasonable efficiency is wear avant-garde joggers, drink iced tea, and perspire. 😂💦☀️🐶

 

Casablanca

 Gus’ look today, is inspired by a retro style tennis outfit from the resort-friendly @casablancabrand summer menswear collection. Both beaches were built in a studio, but Gus’ is made with scrapbook paper.

 

Gus the At-home Tourist

Ever pack a bag with your favorite snacks, bring along a refreshing beverage, and go pretend to be a tourist around your own home town? You never know what cool shops and historic architecture you might discover, down a random side street, or around the next cornfield. Gus goes hunting for farmstands, inspired by the #monday4dolls instagram photo theme: Travel 

A Fashion Survey

With autumn right around the corner, I asked Instagram followers what menswear sewing patterns they all would like to see in the Tiny Apparel Pattern Shop, going forwards! Gus, here, volunteered to play secretary, and take notes. i got some great responses, and I'm looking forward to making them available in the future!

 

Dressed for the Day

Gus is ready for heavy thundershowers and very high temps. The forecast says we’re expecting plenty of both, but I’m hoping the rain cools things off soon!! 

Gus Goes to the Movies

And Action!! Gus gets a starring role for the Instagram #pepperkrissyaction photo challenge! The goal is to recreate a famous movie scene in miniature, and Gus rose to the occasion, paying tribute to the talented stunt man, comedian, and man of fashion: Harold Lloyd; in the iconic clock scene from “Safety Last” (1923). The moral of the scene? Friends don’t leave friends hanging, even if it means taking a pause from outrunning the law, to hand your pal a rope. Check out the whole iconic film here.

Gus on the Docks

 Gus is coiling some lines on the shore, for the #adriandollslifekenchallenge. The photo theme, this month, is “Beach bum Ken.” Granted, Gus, here, is a little more boat-bum than beach-bum, but he’s still all about those exhilarating briny breezes, the musical cry of the gulls, and the bits of froth sparkling on rushing waves!
