that show 😁: I will always be impressed with the impact that a certain
iconic tv series has had on the trajectory of modern menswear history.
Even if, like me, you never watched it through, you may have seen the
publicity stills, with their dark tweedy aesthetic, dominating style
blogs and Pinterest, through the 2010s. They have influenced everything
from wedding photography to some of this very season’s major fashion
editorials. Today, Gus and Lucian are putting their own spin on it.

new sewing pattern is in the shop! 😃 This one includes instructions
for making a classic flat cap, and a slouchy beret. Both designs are
beginner friendly, and created with hand sewing in mind. Swipe through,
to see Gus modeling them.
It’s looking like it’s
going to be a chilly and rainy week, but Gus is staying warm in his
fisherman’s sweater, and wide leg khakis. 🌧🍁🍂

photo theme this week is “Barbiecore.” I went with the Barbie aesthetic
that I truly enjoy: that OG black, white, red, and blue scheme, and the
easy chic style that makes me think of mid century super models, like
Dovima, and photographers like Richard Avedon. ⛴🍒🎬🌼
Gus is breaking all the rules. 😆 We heard there was a #dollstagram
party today with the dress code: “creative.” So, Gus, here, is giving
it his all: mixing casual with formal; winter with summer; modern with
classic, and Jordans with a deerstalker! I think the end result has a
touch of @thombrowne
insanity. 😂 It also reminds me of the fact that A.A. Milne (author of
Winnie-the-Pooh) once wrote a really good Sherlock Holmes fan fiction in
the 1920s. 🤣

I
had so much fun putting these looks together! The fashion described in
the Sherlock Holmes series is truly wonderful and inspiring, as are the
chic little illustrations by Sidney Paget, which accompanied the stories
when they were first published. Gus is rocking Holmes’ sporty
deerstalker cap, and in the third pic, Lucian pays homage to Dr.
Watson’s iconic suit & sneakers moment. The last pic has some of
Paget’s illustrations. 😊
Gus is leaf peeping around old New England ski towns, with his wiggly buddy, Sinatra. Gus is enjoying the beautiful views, and Sinatra is here for the aromatic woodland.
Gus and Lucian are strolling, talking shop, and sipping hot maple chai lattes, on their way to @welcome_2_the_dollhouse ‘s #dollfabfallfriday celebration. If they’re a little late, it’s probably because Gus is brimming with intriguing industry stories, and as usual, cousin Lucian is all ears.

Ever pack a bag with your favorite snacks, bring along a refreshing beverage, and go pretend to be a tourist around your own home town? You never know what cool shops and historic architecture you might discover, down a random side street, or around the next cornfield. Gus is ready for heavy thundershowers and very high temps. The forecast says we’re expecting plenty of both, but I’m hoping the rain cools things off soon!!
And Action!! Gus gets a starring role for the Instagram #pepperkrissyaction
photo challenge! The goal is to recreate a famous movie scene in
miniature, and Gus rose to the occasion, paying tribute to the talented
stunt man, comedian, and man of fashion: Harold Lloyd; in the iconic
clock scene from “Safety Last” (1923). The moral of the scene? Friends don’t leave friends hanging,
even if it means taking a pause from outrunning the law, to hand your
pal a rope. Check out the whole iconic film here.

Gus is coiling some lines on the shore, for the #adriandollslifekenchallenge. The photo theme, this month, is “Beach bum Ken.” Granted, Gus, here, is a little more boat-bum than beach-bum, but he’s still all about those exhilarating briny breezes, the musical cry of the gulls, and the bits of froth sparkling on rushing waves!
This week, one of the world’s most iconic menswear trade shows is taking place for the 100th time: the one and only #pittiuomo,
at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy. In the past decade, Pitti
has become a gathering place for well dressed gentleman from across the
globe, and from all walks of life; a place to talk style, share
sartorial innovations, and have a little fun strutting for the
paparazzi. In celebration of #pitti100,
Gus is wearing his take on trade show street-style, with just a touch
of the dandy about him, in honor of the notorious and delightful #pittipeacocks!! Gus
is wearing a Panama hat, a paisley scarf, a white cotton button up, a
field jacket, khaki chinos, and deco era sunglasses. Sinatra is wearing
his leather collar, and a smile.
The Summer weather just arrived, and Gus broke out a cabana set and a bucket hat to meet it! (Perfect for this week’s #monday4dolls photo theme: #hats) The sewing pattern for Gus’ oversized resort shirt, is coming to the Tiny Apparel pattern shop very soon!
Today is the Kentucky Derby! The favorite looks like a finely chiseled marble statue, but Gus has his eye on a certain feisty chestnut, and a very leggy long shot! Best of luck to the ponies and the jockeys! Have a safe run!
