AMI Inspired Jacket

On the left, is a picture of a look from the AMI F/W 18 collection. I saw the jacket, and thought it would be perfect for Gus, and on the right, you can see a picture of my 1:6 scale interpretation.

The jacket in progress, all full of pins.

A Tiny Laptop

Pitti Uomo is in full swing. Gus can't go there in person, however, he can watch the runway shows on his little MacBook Pro.

The computer was made using cardboard, paper, paint, and a printable from: Easy DIY Miniatures

Fun with Scrapbook Paper

I just got a few sheets of rustic and industrial themed scrapbook paper in the mail, and I'm having lots of fun testing them out as photo backdrops.

A Popsicle-Stick Chair

Gus has a new Popsicle stick chair, some throw pillows, and a cozy knit afghan. Now he and Sinatra will have a place to watch the shows during the upcoming fashion week.

Before, and after. The Schleich Dalmatian, above, is what Sinatra looked like before his repaint.

A Suit for Gus

Gus got his first suit this week. It's the first miniature suit I have ever made, and the first suit jacket at any scale. I spent several hours watching youtube videos of tailors, explaining to dos and don'ts of suit design before I drafted a pattern. I'm pretty pleased with the result, and I think watching all the videos payed off. Its made from a printed quilter's cotton, has two buttons in front (with the bottom one left open), four kissing buttons (and one left open) on each cuff, notched lapels with an embroidered buttonhole, and an interchangeable cotton pocket square.

Tissue Paper Couture

Nancy Drew investigates a mysterious note.

I wanted to put together some holiday dresses for Nancy Drew and her chums, and decided to attempt some tissue paper couture, inspired by the amazing work of Jin Yang. Nancy and Bess's dresses are made entirely of tissue paper, while George's is embellished with a wire and foil-paper belt. Bess has a cotton-ball shrug, and a ribbon headband. I'm really pleased with the results, for my first time making paper dresses.

Walking the Beagle

Gus takes his puppy for a walk by the waterfront. Sinatra is wearing a little fur-trimmed jacket, from the same lambswool felt as Gus'.

A Puppy for Christmas

Merry Christmas from Gus and his new Beagle pup, named Sinatra. The puppy is a repainted Schleich Dalmation, and he's wearing a martingale collar made with some ribbon and a little chain.

The Holiday Rush

Gus has a new lambswool peacoat, and wore it, along with his khaki chinos and a pair of high-tops from Mattel, to do some last minute shopping at the Church Street pedestrian marketplace.

There are a bunch of amazing boulders embedded in the street. Perfect for climbing.

There were quite a few people out shopping, and we got lots of positive comments during the shoot. Everything from "Nice doll!" to "Awe, he's such a hipster!"
