Today, Gus is modeling some cozy new beanie and mitten designs for the Tiny Apparel Patterns Etsy Shop! This hand sewing pattern is pretty beginner-friendly, and perfect for repurposing old socks.

Cards from Friends!

Gus went down to his mailbox and found some greeting cards from his buddies! Merry Christmas @adrian.dollslife and @stovallthedoll ! Thank you both for these delightful cards! 

Today, Gus is wearing a lumber-chic burgundy and loden green look, with classic herringbone trousers, for the #monday4dolls Christmas Fashion theme!

Decorating for Christmas

🎶”O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, where to stick this last ornament?” 🎶  Gus puts the finishing touches on his Christmas tree. 

Today, Gus is also adding some holiday cheer to his pony’s barn, for the #monday4dolls theme: Christmas decorations! I put this wreath together for Gus, using beads and some big gold and green cultured pearls. They remind me of frosted glass ornaments.

Vintage Pictures!

It’s Gus, as a 1960’s Ken! I got really inspired by the fabulous 1980s-style Barbie and Ken illustrations that people have been creating on Instagram, for the #sparemoonbarbiechallenge, so I decided to make a picture of Gus from my own personal favorite era of Barbie fashion illustration! I adore the early Barbie and Ken catalog illustrations and box art, where you can see the stylistic influence of the wonderful Rene Gruau! 

 

I couldn’t leave Lucian out of the vintage Ken project, so here is Gus’ albino cousin as 1960s Allan! 

 

I also reinterpreted a few more classic 1960s Ken fashion illustrations, with a couple of today’s awesome and inspiring miniature instagramers: @adrian.dollslife and @stovallthedoll

Happy Thanksgiving! Gus is having a quiet Thanksgiving at home, with his cousin Lucian. There’s hot apple cider on the stove, Lucian’s spiced pumpkin bread is in the oven, and they are up to their elbows in festive decor! I hope you all are having a truly wonderful day today!!

Appreciating Miniature Instagram

It may be cold and rainy outside, but Gus is scrolling through #dollstagram, and feeling just as cozy as can be, admiring all the photos of innovative fashion, chic decor, and action packed adventures!!

I just want to say how much I really appreciate the wonderful network of miniature enthusiasts, artists, and collectors on Instagram! I love that I can always count on learning something new, being inspired, amazed, and thoroughly entertained by the posts you all share! It is a challenge to keep up with it all, but just knowing the sheer amount of brilliant creativity being shared on #dollstagram, each day, is truly heartwarming! I am also so grateful for the wonderful friends who I have met on that platform!! You mean so much to me! 😊💙

This week, I challenged myself to recreate this famous photograph of the strikingly glamorous model, @aaronshandel , with Gus! I keep stumbling over the original on Pinterest, and I think it’s brilliant how Shandel absolutely sells the whole Persian-carpet-as-a-shawl concept.

Stovall's Birthday

Gus and Lucian were invited to join a virtual instagram birthday party for Stovall of @thelifeofstovall today! The instructions were for dolls to join in via a video chat, or phone call. Below, Gus and his cousin, Lucian, are working together to set up a zoom meeting, so they can wish Stovall a very Happy Birthday! Lucian made tea!

I also made a small Birthday gift, and sent it ahead. Luckily, it arrived the day before the party! Stovall recently remodeled his miniature kitchen, and his Giant, Cody, has been 3D printing pumpkin pies and turkeys! I thought a little retro-inspired kitchen set might come in handy.  

Morning Stroll

Gus returns from a quiet morning stroll with Sinatra, the beagle. The day is still a little chilly, and Sinatra makes a great hand warmer.

Tea Time

This week has been icy and blustery! Gus is staying warm, curled up in his favorite chair, enjoying a piping hot pot of tea in his new tea set!  Many thanks to @stovallthedoll, for the elegantly designed little teapot!! It’s a really beautiful piece, and I had a lot of fun decorating it with a hand painted botanical motif, inspired by a @ralphlauren tea set from this season!
